Being a woman of color in this town and this big world can sometimes feel like a constant uphill climb, right? Stress and anxiety sneak into every nook of your life – relationships, work, school, parenting – you name it. It's like they're these uninvited guests messing with your vibe. It might seem like you're just trying to make it through the day without breaking down. You might put on a happy face for friends, family, and coworkers, but inside, you're wrestling with self-doubt, criticism, and fears of failure. It's a tiring act that leaves you drained by the end of the day, leaving little time or energy for the things and people that bring you joy.
Now, here's the deal: how you deal with stress is like a dance your body and mind do. If you've been in this chronic stress mode without a clue how to handle it, your system might be shouting 'unsafe' all the time. If you're a woman of color going through life's unique rollercoaster, we totally get it. Your well-being deserves some serious love, and that's exactly what we're here for.
This program can give you some relief; By connecting with other people who are experiencing similar issues, you will feel understood, supported, and less isolated by your experience. Join us on this six-week journey. We're diving into some real talk and empowering methods to navigate stress and anxiety. It's time to give your well-being the attention it deserves.
Each session is designed in four parts-->
1) Group check in, guided meditation or exercise
2) A bit of teaching/psychoeducation
2) Healing Activities, Tools, and Experiences
3) Whole group discussion and reflective journaling
Joining this program is an opportunity to alleviate anxiety for lasting change. We're diving into a practical wellness framework that'll guide you through the whole journey. First up, we'll unravel the mystery of recognizing your anxiety – you'll get a handle on what's going on and why. Then, we're getting into the nitty-gritty of regulating that anxiety. No worries if this sounds a bit technical – we'll break it down in a way that makes total sense for you. Next, we're talking about resourcing. Think of it like building up your own personal toolkit filled with strategies that actually work for you. It's all about finding what clicks and feels good. And finally, we're getting to the core of it – revisiting the source of that anxiety. But here's the magic part – we're doing it with an eye on resilience. You'll learn how to bounce back, stronger and more in control.

By integrating neuroscience with ancient wisdom, you will discover the power of the mind-body connection and directly experience the benefits of somatic work through breathing techniques.
The transformational breathwork style I teach (circular connected breathing) is a trauma-responsive approach to conscious breathing (in and out of the mouth) with gentle touch, a motivating playlist, and an immersive sound bath with crystal bowls. Connected Breathing allows people to (re)connect with their highest selves and unlock the potential for better physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Connected Breathing is also a powerful, self-healing technique that facilitates integration and the transformation of trauma, suppressed thoughts, beliefs, and unprocessed emotions. Breathwork is WORK, so it will be challenging in the beginning of your practice. The invitation is to push through Ego and these uncomfortable experiences by keeping your attention anchored in your body as an act of self-compassion.
Sound healing is a holistic wellness modality that involves the therapeutic use of sound vibrations to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It is based on the ancient practices that different frequencies and vibrations produced by instruments have a profound impact on the body and mind. Sound healing operates through the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the reverse of the stress-induced fight-or-flight response. This practice gently slows your respiration, heart rate, and even brainwave activity, ushering you into an almost mesmerizing state. This signal to your body signifies safety, enabling a profound sense of relaxation
You will listen to gentle sounding bowls including 432 hz quartz crystal singing bowls, wind gong, koshi chimes, ocean drums, as well as other types of instruments that will calm your mind and create soul-stirring sounds to guide you into a relaxed state. As your attention moves inward, the mind begins to recede from thought into present-moment awareness.
Sound healing is a gentle, non invasive, deeply therapeutic healing modality. During a sound bath you can simply relax, rejuvenate, or go to very deep places of meditation and insight. The frequencies, overtones of these bowls take you to a place of beauty, love and peace. Through receiving sound you awaken your body’s innate healing abilities and you are able to de-stress your nervous system, realign on a deep, cellular level.
The many benefits of sound baths and healing sound sessions are: Reduced depression and anxiety, improved sleep, boosting immune system, increased creativity, improved brain function, and regulated nervous system.
Breathwork and sound healing combined is a transformational healing tool that heals wounds at a cellular level and connects you to your internal space. The breath does the work of shifting any stagnant or blocked energy around the chakras that keeps you feeling low in energy, anxious, depressed, and stuck in life. Leaving breathwork sessions you feel lighter, softer and renewed. You may even experience a feeling of being “high” on energy, love and light.
Through guided breathing techniques and immersing yourself in beautiful high frequency sounds, your body will naturally begin to process, unravel and release what’s no longer serving you. One breath at a time, you’ll connect to new levels of clarity and receive your own answers and guidance from within.
This experience is for anyone that is ready to gain awareness, transform and journey into healing. The main purpose of breathwork and sound therapy is to open the heart and enhance peace within. It is a safe, natural way to journey deeply into yourself and find understanding.
Breathwork and sound healing is not advised for persons with severe mental illness or seizure disorders or for persons using major medications. It is also unsuitable for anyone with a personal or family history of aneurysms. Pregnant women are advised against practicing breathwork without first consulting and getting approval from their primary care physician. Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler and consult with their primary care physician and the breathwork class facilitator. Participants need to consult with their physician and get approval to attend healing sessions if they have metal in their bodies, suffered concussions, have a pacemaker, and use an insulin pump.
You will need a mat or blanket to lay on, an extra blanket to cover up with for comfort, a journal or piece of paper to write with (optional) and pen, water if desired. You may also bring an eye mask and lip balm. Please wear comfortable clothing. And please avoid eating a large meal close to the time of the class beginning. The throat needs to be open, so there is no pillow requested. Most of all, bring an open mind and heart!
